The tour aims to provide an immersive and authentic experience of the role of women in
the Djugun, Bardi and Jawi culture, as well as the natural beauty and diversity of their Country.
The Djugun, Bardi and Jawi people are the traditional owners and custodians of Broome & the Dampier
Peninsula in Western Australia. They have a rich and vibrant culture that spans
thousands of years, and a strong connection to their land and sea.
The tour will be led by strong local women, who will perform the traditional welcome
ceremonies, grant the permission to access their sacred lands and waters, and share
their stories, knowledge, and wisdom with their guests. The tour will also involve various
activities that showcase the role of women as providers and gatherers for their families,
such as bush honey, oystering, fishing, budgiie (craft), bush medicine, and seasonal bush
tucker. The tour will also include cultural performances and star gazing.
